Raw Innovation showcases the innovating way we go about solving problems.

At Raw we love to use the inherent properties of plywood (strength to weight ratio, slight flexibility etc) to create glue-less jointing and clipping systems. some of these are easy to imagine and test, others take weeks or months to perfect. Hours are spent working out which joint is appropriate for which situation and then we cut and test prototype after prototype.

We would like to think of ourselves as innovators because we use the best of modern technology (the CNC cutter) to produce old skool glue-less jointing.

Exploiting the inherent flexibility, albeit slight, of plywood we create tension joints for small objects. In this way, objects can be assembled without the use of tools and can be flat-packed. This technique is also being translated onto bigger pieces.

Everything we do nowadays is designed with the CNC machine in mind. CNC’s aren’t without restrictions, but its these restrictions that we are constantly innovating around. It makes it possible for a relatively small company like ourselves to produce any size projects.
