It’s been no secret that we have been working with the University of Pretoria on various projects over the past years. What you maybe do not know is that we don’t only supply furniture but exhibition walls as well.Back in 2017 Mathews and Associates Architects approached Raw Studios to develop an exhibition system for the exciting new Javett Art Centre at the University of Pretoria. The brief was music to our ears and a chance to challenge ourselves. In the end, we in collaboration with Journeyman Collective designed and manufactured a walling system, which is suitable for the exquisite Art Centre but also true to our values. Wallspace™ is a sleek and minimalistic modular wall that is easy to use, move, adapt and a simple solution for most exhibitions and even office spaces. The collaboration with Javett and the development of Wallspace™ left us feeling inspired, we mean, our white backdrop walls are being used to showcase some of South Africa’s most talented artists. The richness of the artworks’ colours contrasting with the white walls captures your imagination and takes you to a different world, outside of the busy Jacaranda City. The Javett Art Centre is a tranquil space and a perfect destination to add to your to-do list if you are staying at home this holiday. Get some peace of mind and enrich your holiday with some of the best of local art and culture.
There are a few things that keep us motivated here at Raw Studios… from the smell of freshly made coffee to start our day to exciting new products and projects that energise us and encourage us to grow and push the boundaries. The third motivator is when hard work pays off… This got new meaning this year after winning the award for the best product design 2019 at 100% Design South Africa. We have been dreaming of changing our furniture into a structure you can live in and experience every day: this year it became a reality!
The final motivator is you, your feedback, your support and excitement for Inhouse. Thank you to all our new and loyal clients that have recognized the potential in Raw Studios and the exciting new potential of Inhouse.
With 100% Design 2019 behind us and with the overwhelmingly positive feedback received, we are eager to proceed and grow Inhouse into a product which can meet your most important needs.
After the launch of Inhouse, Visi interviewed Peet to get the inside scoop. The article will feature in this month’s issue; it’s the perfect opportunity to catch up on our big idea that you might have missed at 100% Design.
We’ll keep you in the loop of the Inhouse process… but for now, please bear with us as we proceed to develop Inhouse. We are currently compiling all our information regarding it in a compact format to make it easily accessible. We are also busy uploading the necessary information onto our website for quick referencing.
Remember to keep an eye out in your inbox; you may receive a link, a catalogue, a video… who knows? But more exciting information will follow.
